Position: Emergency Dispatcher

Department: Combined Communications Center

Beginning Pay: $ 17.43 per hour

Application Deadline: Open until filled

Emergency Communications Dispatchers provide citizens their first contact with law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services in Laramie County.
The Combined Communications Center is a 24/7 operation that receives approximately 312,000 administrative and 72,000 9-1-1 telephone calls per year. Dispatchers are required to effectively communicate with callers, make critical decisions and record information into the computer system. Dispatchers must also effectively communicate with first responders via radio and track responder resources during multiple activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. U.S. Citizen
  2. 18 years of age
  3. High School Diploma or equivalent achievement
  4. Type a minimum of 38 Words per minute
  5. Pass the following examinations:
    1. entry test
    2. oral interview
    3. background investigation (no felony convictions)
    4. medical evaluation
    5. psychological evaluation
    6. polygraph
    7. pre-employment drug screen
  6. Ability to work shift work, weekends and holidays
