Mental Health Counselor
Laramie County is currently seeking a Mental Health Counselor for a 12-month position funded entirely through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 2009 (ARRA). This position will be assisting in the development of new policies and procedures that reduce the county’s liability and improve the treatment outcomes of mentally ill inmates. This includes reducing inmate victimization and violence, increase diversion of mentally ill persons from detention, more timely and frequent evaluation of substance abuse issues and the creation of a system to maintain accurate information on service needs and outcomes which will allow better management of these services in the future. Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work or a related field; possession of a valid Wyoming License as a Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker, or Professional Counselor; AND one (1) year of professional counseling experience, preferably in an institutional environment; OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A successful candidate must pass a thorough background investigation. The hiring range for this position is $3,641-$3,833 per month plus benefits. Laramie County provides a competitive benefits package that includes health, dental, vision and paid time off.
